I believe this error is happening on your end, before the activation request reaches our server. This is either due to an odd security setting on your desktop or a misconfigured .NET framework installation.

First, you'll need to ensure that your system has all the correct root security certificates installed. Compare your laptop and your desktop to ensure they both have the same roots installed. I found a more detailed explanation here: http://crm.rightnow.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2807/~/ssl-certificate-error-messages

Also, if you have antivirus software installed, it may be interfering. Try disabling it while you perform the activation.

As a final option, you could try reinstalling the .NET framework 2.0. Use this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en

I apologize if these instructions sound complicated, please let me know if there is something you do not understand.

Exactly, It seems to be the same as the other versions of stylizer where the small font issue just appears out of nowhere and stays that way. Its like some code or internal cache in stylizer gets stuck. This has happened with a new OS of Win7 as well as in the past under vista. I'll keep a look out as a way to recreate however this will prob require a reload of the os for it to reappear as I'm afraid I'm stuck with this small font issue in IE8 mode until it clears up. I'll let you know what I find.

If anyone else experiences this please follow this thread till this issue can be replicated.

GONeale,

A screencast demonstrating the problem would be great. If you can get us a link to a site that demonstrates the issue, that would also be helpful.

There are some known issues with JavaScript support across the different browsers that Stylizer supports. Unfortunately, there is little that we can do to solve the issue, because we don't have any control over JavaScript - that's all on the browsers. None of the browsers were designed to be used in the way that we use them, so a few hiccups are to be expected. I have noticed the TAB key issue while working on our own sites (yes, we use Stylizer for all of our web design too...).

Although it's not great, my recommendation is to simply disable problematic javascript whenever possible. We are always trying to improve our JavaScript support, but as I've explained, it's a pretty tough nut to crack.

As always, any information that you can provide on the issue is appreciated. As soon as I can duplicate the issue in the office, I file the bug, and we do try to fix these things as soon as possible.

Thanks,

jive,

I have loaded your page in FF3.6, switched over to IE7, and styled it for about 10 minutes without encountering any kind of slow behaviour. During this period, I did notice that CPU usage jumps while using size grips or the ctrl+arrow keys to resize or move page elements. In general, while editing this page, memory usage sat between 65MB and 70MB, and CPU usage between 3% and 40%. Although these numbers are on the high end, the relative complexity of your site makes them somewhat expected.

I would suggest that you work to reduce the complexity of your style sheets. You have a relatively simple page that references 18 different CSS files that are full of overlapping rules. Every time that you change something in one of these files, Stylizer has to parse every one of these rules in order to re-render the page. If you're using size grips or the ctrl+arrow keys while editing, it may have to do this a number of times each second. All of this computation is done on your CPU, which accounts for the relatively high CPU usage while editing your site.

If you do this on a slower machine (note that I'm testing on a 3.06GHz machine with 4GB of memory), you'll definitely see some slowdowns. Further, if you do this in an older browser like IE6 or IE7, you'll really see some slowdowns, because these browsers were not really designed to be used the way that Stylizer uses them, which is a situation that we have no control over whatsoever.

Sorry that I can't provide any more help. I don't mean to lay the blame for this entirely on your shoulders, but if I can't duplicate your problem, we can't fix it. If you can give me a set of steps to re-create the issue, I'll be happy to spend more time on this.

Thanks for the report,

asenseofdesign,

It looks like kemie has found your issue. Whenever you're using a jquery plugin, you always need to make sure that you include any required CSS files to ensure that things are displayed correctly.

That said, Stylizer does occasionally exhibit some strange issues in the way that it handles advanced JavaScript stuff like drop-down menus.

We're always working to improve our JavaScript support, but because we don't maintain the actual interpreter code, there is often little that we can do besides ensuring that we don't break support with our implementations.

Please let us know if you run into this issue anywhere else,

I cannot seem to duplicate this issue. Your site looks identical in the latest version of Stylizer and in IE8. If you can come up with some steps to create this problem, I'll be able to file it as a bug.

discopatrick,

When you use your Stylizer 4 license key as a coupon for a Stylizer 5 upgrade, you retain both your Stylizer 4 and Stylizer 5 product keys to use as you please.

That said, there have been a number of improvements to Stylizer between versions, and we suggest that you install version 5 on both your desktop computer at home and on a laptop for travelling. This is allowed under our licensing terms, and this way, you will be able to use the most recent (and best) version of Stylizer wherever you go.

I have the same problem.

Just downloaded Stylizer 5 Trial and trying to hit a localhost address.

Chrome took about 20 seconds to load my login page, and I can't seem to login? My validation keeps firing as if I haven't typed anything in for username/password, also the TAB key doesn't work.

Something really strange is going on here. Unfortunately it's unusable for me here at work, I didn't have any trouble at home on some websites though. But you may have updated the build since 2 or so weeks ago when I last downloaded it.

Graham

PS: This work computer is a HP Xeon 2.53GHz, 3GB RAM, Win 7 32-bit. Unfortunately I cannot provide you a URL. But the good news is (in a way) is this is happening for all pages, even google.com which is a simple page. I will try and record a screencast as soon as I can demonstrating the problem.

guys, after frequent use of Stylizer 5, I am becoming increasingly frustrated. Especially when leaving firefox and chrome modes into any ie mode. Frequently it becomes very, very slugish to to the point where I just have to close it and restart it.

Please view the following page in ie7 mode: http://mirror.inacronym.com/faq.php . If you will attempt to style the page for a good bit, you'll notice about 3 - 5 minutes into updating the page, it becomes impossible....

http://www.top99women.com

The CSS is a little large and in the process of being streamlined, however the font size issue suddenly appeared and looks just fine in FF as well as fine in an external IE8 browser. The file to edit is the top99women.css file.

I generally have to ignore a cleaner message coming from one of googles language css entries referencing display:auto as invalid in their translateelement.css files but that has always been there and not overridden, yet.

I'm not too sure about the steps to reproduce the problem as the site was fine in stylizer 5 for a while then all of a sudden stylizer started to render the page with super small fonts in various places. I do believe this stated happening after using FF mode to check css setting compatibities but I am not 100% sure that was the last thing that occurred of if Stylizer just suddenly started doing this on its own or after a stylizer update.

I'd very much like to upgrade my v4 key to v5 so I can start using Stylizer on my Mac. However, I know the new licensing structure only permits use on two machines. Therefore, I will want to keep v4 running for those times when I take it out on the road on my USB stick and plug it into whatever computer I need to work on.

Question is, if I upgrade my key for use in v5, will it still work in v4?

bobbravo,

I can't reproduce this issue in either of the browsers that you've mentioned. Can you please send me some screen shots or perhaps a video of the problem in action so that I can attempt to duplicate the problem?

bobbravo,

I can't seem to duplicate the problems that you're having.

I can load the page that you linked in under two seconds in all browsers from within Stylizer, and the X button does indeed abort the refresh operation.

I'm running Stylizer 5.0.10.722 on Windows Server 2008, which is more similar to Vista than it is to Windows 7.

Can you give me any more information that might help me to reproduce the issue?

Hey team,

Look @ this site using the IE8 snap in:
http://67.19.28.117/~flangesk/

But in the real desktop IE8, the clearfix on the .container_12 works as it should.

In IE 8, if the page has focus, it DINGS. If I click inside of the grid, it will save properly. As soon as I click inside of the page content, and press CTRL+S, it dings and doesn't save

YES! I have a better way to reproduce the issue!

1 - Bullseye an element (CTRL+Click it in the DOM outline), it will now show the rules targeting it
2 - Click inside of the page
3 - Try using Bullseye again. Pressing CTRL has no effect. Elements in the DOM tree are not hi-lighted, and clicking on one will start making a new rule (even though the button says "add to rule").

YES!!! This is reproducible in FF3.6 and IE8 so far.

It is reproducible in the fact that a consistent way to remedy this bug is to switch between the active stylesheet, and another one, back to the active stylesheet. Bullseye now works properly again.

Just one more: WOOHOOO!!!

This issues is still persistent. The only thing that I've noticed that causes it seems to be related to what area you have given focus.

Please fix this issue! I use that function to fine tune placement of elements, especially when they're far apart. That's an important issue, at least to me. And I understand that it has to be balanced with other bug fixes and feature requests.

Thanks guys!

In addition (in trying to generate a stack trace & error report for you), I noticed that when chrome is reloading a page, pressing the X button to abort the refresh is broken, and it continues regardless. Pressing ESC doesn't abort the page reload either.

Is the site, and I'm running Windows 7 (build 6.1.7600) on an intel Q6600 with 8GB ram.

The pages load very slow on refresh, and getting images that should only take 100ms takes 1-2 seconds. I can verify this in Chrome.exe by refreshing the page. I ran a Developer>Timeline audit using the dev tools for chrome, and the page loads & renders in less than 2 seconds. In stylizer 5.0.10.722, it takes about 33 seconds (thats with a primed cache, pressing F5 to reload, from the beginning of pressing F5, until the load/reload indicator turns back to a reload icon)
